How Siri and Apple Intelligence may succeed or fail in 2025?

Why should I get an iPhone? Or is it merely a nice-to-have item?

Wow, 2025. Is it not unbelievable? It seems like only yesterday that we eagerly awaited the release of Apple Vision Pro, anticipating Apple’s influence in the VR/AR headset market. The Vision Pro’s introduction was lukewarm, to be sure, but another Apple launch took center stage in 2024.

Apple Intelligence, the company’s first venture into the realm of artificial intelligence, was unveiled in June. It will debut in September with a feature set that includes Writing Tools, Apple’s version of the well-known proofreading and rewriting program Grammarly. After the initial introduction of Apple Intelligence, a few months later, in December, Apple released iOS 18.2, which was notable for the inclusion of ChatGPT in Siri, Genmoji, and Image Playground.

iOS 18.2 feels like a turning point for Apple Intelligence; in fact, it feels like the version of iOS 18 that ought to have been released in September along with the iPhone 16 family of smartphones. We’ll have to wait a few more months to discover what Apple Intelligence is really capable of because the company’s AI development trailed behind its hardware, resulting in delays and a disorganized delivery schedule.

I genuinely think that Apple is the firm that will find a use for these frequently goofy AI technologies, which is why I am so positive about Apple Intelligence. My perspective on Apple Intelligence has completely changed as a result of iOS 18.2, and I now use emojis on a nearly daily basis in addition to mail categorization and notification summaries.

The heart of Apple Intelligence is still absent, and the much-anticipated updated Siri will arrive in 2025. Like previous Apple products like Universal Clipboard and AirDrop, Apple Intelligence will become indispensable for many people’s workflows, including mine, if Siri can fulfill my long-held desire for an AI personal assistant integrated into my Apple products.

When I suggest that 2025 will be the year we determine whether or not consumer goods actually require unique AI features, I mean it. We will be entering a very interesting AI-filled era if Apple can grab the interest of its clientele and make Apple Intelligence mandatory. Apple enthusiasts are known for preferring simplicity. Apple has figured it out if it can convince people of the benefits of artificial intelligence.

However, what if the Siri update in 2025 falls short of expectations? We’ll see just how much Apple believes in AI at that point. The average consumer may reject the promised Apple Intelligence future if Siri’s significant redesign fails to deliver on its promise of introducing a highly intelligent voice assistant to the world of Apple devices, not merely through a ChatGPT extension.

In essence, Apple Intelligence is there for people when they need it, not something you have to learn to integrate into your life. Apple views it as an extension of the operating systems that power the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. However, AI may never become a part of the Apple ecosystem if no one ever uses it and the ultimate version of Siri, which is powered by Apple Intelligence, in 18.4 isn’t as revolutionary as we want.
The success or failure of Apple Intelligence will be at the forefront of the discussion when we finally witness the advantages of AI in consumer goods in 2025.

As I write this in December, I still believe that Apple Intelligence will make a big impact in persuading consumers to switch to a new device. However, until there is a compelling reason to choose AI, many of these tools may remain overlooked, almost as if they don’t exist at all.
